Ok, I hope this isn't a stupid question, but here goes. Tonight will be the first time I'll have to go over the truck since bringing it home, and amongst my goals for the evening are to check ant top up fluids. I just want to make sure that the obvious fluids are the correct ones to use. i.e. PS fluid in the PS res, brake fluid in the brake fluid res, etc. the only reason I ask is, because my BMW uses ATF fluid in the PS res, and brake fluid for the hydraulic clutch. WTF, Germans... Anyway, anything wacky I need to know before checking and topping up? No owners manual, of course.
i would suggest rather than topping off fluids that you change them. i did this on my recently bought 86. and although it's a PITA (particularly draining the trans) it's good karma. you have no idea the last time they were changed.
Ok. It just had an iol change, and a new air filter. The fuel filter at the carb is new as well. Any other filters I should change? Not real excited about doing the AT filter...
I know how to flush the brakes and drain and refill the trans, but I'm not sure on PS. Is there a way to flush the system, or just suck out all you can and replace? Probably should do a flush n fill on the cooling system as well, huh?
