Hello everyone. New to the forums and got lots of questions!

Hey everybody. I'm Colby, I'm 17 and from Kentucky. I just joined the forum yesterday, but I've been browsing it for months just looking at pictures and such. I've got a black 2006 F150 FX4 V8 and I have had it since August of 2009. Loving it to death so far and it looks almost brand new and only has 54k miles on it. So far I have been keeping it real clean both inside and out and I am looking to start adding some mods to it. I have my windows tinted right now with 15% tint and it looks nice and a K&N Air Filter. I've also added some chrome parts to it like the door handles, mirrors, gas cap and lights and that makes it look sharp as well. I'm trying to go for the chrome on black look because it looks really nice and is unique because of the many black on black Fords i see today. Anyways, enough about that and sorry for the long winded intro. Onto the questions!

The first modification I am going to get is an exhaust system. I am looking at Flowmasters right now and I am liking what I see so far and I also have friends who have them and like them. I have called a local place that will install them and asked prices for what they could install. They said they could install these kits: CLICK! They said they could get the single for $375 and the two duals for $550 each. Instillation would run $100 they said. My questions are 1) Are those prices decent prices maybe compared to what you or someone you know got? 2) Is there a large sound difference between the three? Mainly between the single and dual. 3) I have never seen a single exhaust Flowmaster and wanted to know why. 4) Do those have series? Whenever I look up Flowmasters on Youtube they are called by series so what are the series in the link. Thanks a bunch!

I also want to get my truck lifted/leveled. My back end is much higher than front end so I figured I would like to get a leveling kit for it. When people get there truck leveled or lifted do they normally raise the higher end as well or just the one that needs it. I was thinking maybe a 2.5 or 3 inch lift would do good, but I don't know for sure. Maybe you guys can clear up some of those questions for me.

I am looking at other mods like new tires and rims, but those are not really my priority right now. Besides, I am only 17 and I am not exactly making lots of money right now. (Although $8/hr isn't to bad )

That was pretty long but hopefully you read it all and can help me. Thanks so much for reading and for hopefully helping me with some of my questions!

Thanks,
• Colby

Nice truck colby. I wish I had something like that when I was 17!!! My first truck was a 78 dodge halfton 2wd regular cab. I bought it off my brother for 1000 bucks(that was back in 94). Anyway, I have the flowmaster with duals ran out the back, I got mine INSTALLED for 350 after tax, so like 325 before tax. The guy who did it does a lot of them though and is the cheapest guy around(he does good work though). As for the lift kit, I don't have one, but I know most people going for the level look just get a 2.5" lift on the front, I think a lot of guys get them on ebay, but like I said, I don't have one, so don't take my word for it. Other guys can help you better there. I love my flowmaster though, it sounds really good, it is throaty, a nice deep mellow sound, but not too loud. I just want to hear some volume in town, and a more aggresive sound, I don't want it to drone in my ear going down the highway, and this is just what I wanted. Welcome to the site. And how did you upload your pic? Mine still says at the bottom that I can't post attatchments.

He put the photo on photobucket and then used the Insert Image icon (top right of the advanced editor). When it prompted him for the URL, he pasted the URL from photobucket.

Alright, thanks Bigunit for the help and compliments. There are a few other places around town that install them so I will give them a call and get their prices.

Nice truck Colby... ironic enough... I have my own '06 FX4 Supercab with 55 K miles and tinted windows.... My wheels are chrome, running boards chrome, and I will be getting a chrome grille soon and that's probably the extent to the chrome for me... Unfortunately, I don't know much about the flowmasters or leveling kit... but good luck!

nice truck. Alot of people on here have auto spring leveling kits on their trucks, you can buy them off ebay, just run a search on autospring leveling kits to find them. They advertise a 2" and a 2.5", and also make a 1.5" kit, but, you have to call them to order it as it's not listed in the ebay store. Every truck reacts to the leveling kit a little different, but most people get the totally level look with the 2" kit and the 2.5" will leave the front a tad higher than the rear so an add a leaf kit or block will be required to level the truck back. My '05 FX4 supercab had 3" of rake to it and since I tow/haul alot I wanted the rear to be a little higher than the front so I went with the 1.5" kit. I ended up getting 2" of lift out of the kit, but the rear is still a little higher than front so it worked out perfectally. The auto spring kits are like $70, then it will cost around $80-$100 to have someone install it, and you will need to have an alignment done afterwards so that will cost alittle extra. With a leveled truck you can fit 34" tires pretty easy and less aggressive 35" tires should work too(although with this size you'd be better going with a 2.5" in the front and then raising the rear to match, so you'd have more clearance). I put 33" tires on mine and it's just about right for me, just big enough to look good, but not so big that the tires affect the gearing of the truck alot. Also, you don't have to get new rims right off the bat, your stock wheels will work with the larger tires just fine.

for your exhaust check out nate at performancetruckproducts.com you can make an offer on the exhaust systems if you dont like the price. and if you can operate a wrench and pliers, you can install the bolt on systems yourself. they are very easy. I did mine in the snow on jackstands, and was done in under 2 hours.
