Bog on initial hard acceleration

After I let the engine warm fully, If I get on the pedal as much as 3/4 to WOT it will bog...but only the first time and for a second or so. After that first instance, it will not do it anymore as accelerations are smooth, strong and consistant.

That is until the engine cools over night and I start all over the next day.

Thanks all.

if you have the early build truck you could have a small exhuast leak starting around the expansion joint (usaully the left side) that when the engine is cooler it's leaking a little and then when warmed up it seals back off. the 03 and early 04 are real picky about that. If not that also could be turbo sticking

My 2005 has the bogg at initial hard acceleration ie merging into traffic when you need a quick response so far no easy fix besides tuning, FICM mod etc. just got use to it and don't expect it to take off like a gasser. I am told the 6.4 fixed the problem with dual turbos seems like an excessive fix just for this problem.

How many miles?

What kind of exhaust?

Do you use dino or synthetic oil?

Fully Synthetic Mobile 1 Turbo Diesel 5w-30 for 10k miles now. It was happening with Motorcraft 15w-40 as well.

Truck is 100% stock....sadley.

Thanks for the replys. I'll check into the turbo and EGR.

Took today off to try a pay a little more close attention to my issue. This is only happening when the pedal is stomped somewhere between 1200-2500RPM (which is my typical driving range) and lasts only for that initial second of the stomping, not any longer. If I've ever launched from the line, I'll build boost first.

The term "Bog" does not really apply here so I apologize for the confusion.
Anywho, I believe it is just normal turbo lag. Sometimes that 1 second or so can seem like a lifetime when your trying to react to something like ummm... ::coughs:: ricers... ::coughs again::.

Take care.

Not sure where you live but I would order a MBRP "cat delete" pipe and put it in the stock exhaust system. I have an Excursion and it bolted right up in place of the cat. Like you I experienced turbo lag when I had the stock exhaust system on but the pipe took a lot of it out. When I put the 4" MBRP trurbo back exhaust on, that eliminated all of the turbo lag. Pipe costs about $65.
