I bought it new, other than a few trips to Rhode Island; it's been always in Alabama.
My help won't be able to come over till Monday afternoon so I guess I'll have to finish then.
Thanks for your help

a friendly reminder if you have an engine hoist/cherry picker you can use that on the bed!

I decided to try and do it by myself; it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I picked up the back of the bed inserted two 2 x 4”s, picked up front, slid it back about 12-18”, cleaned everything prior to removing. Guess what tank was completely empty. Anyway it works great started right up, even the gas gage works. A gas gage is a must have.

Thanks again for your help it was really appreciated.

I am glad you got it running!! I thought it was a little odd that you were getting zero gas from the valve. You would of had to drop the tank or pull the bed to get to the sending unit anyhow. I swear by that Techron fuel injector cleaner I put a 12 gallon bottle in whenever i change the oil ( about every 4k). I guees your braklines and shckles were fine, that is nice not to have to deal with the rust.......best of luck with it.

I didn't see anything wrong with the brake lines or shackles. Do you notice any change in the driveability using that Techron fuel injector cleaner? I have probably used shell more than any other brand due to convenience.
It is running a little rough but I hope it just relearning.
Thanks again
Johnny

As I said in an earlier post Shell was one of the brands that "might havebeen eating the sendind units" techron is suppose to be able to reverse the condition. Techron is great use it every oil change and mix up your Brands of gas.

Could the new filter or the injectors be filled with crap? ADD SOME TECHRON

the stuff is pretty strong and can eat plugs and o2 sensors. so i would add the recommended amount. one 12 gallon bottle for about 12 gallons . I have had it temporarily clear up a filty fuel filter in less than 4 miles.......the stuff works......

one last thought. you said it was running rough. what brand plugs did you put in. E3's will not work. autolite or motorcraft are the only ones that work. if you used Bosch, expect them to fail within 10k miles. The tips will be eaten alive.....if the wires are original with the heat around you they might be toast. ONLY USE AUTOLITE OR MOTORCRAFT OEM WIRES.

I used the autolite double platinum. I did not change the wires, but I will do that also with the autolite. I just wanted to get it going first. It also needs the timing belt changed. All is original; it has about 170,000 miles on it.
Will have to pace myself though the temperature is in the 90’s in the shade now
Thanks
Johnny
