**Lvin4jc's '51 F-1 Project Build**

I had an uncle who did stuff like that. He was a WWII submariner and life long pipe fitter. I don't think he ever drove a nail or turned a screw in his life. If two things needed put together they were welded or soldered...but then they never came apart either.

Looks like a farmer had the truck once upon a time, lol....'sorry farmers'....I grew up on a farm watching the old timers do stuff with their torches and welders...do it quick and make it work. ha ha.
Anyways that here truck you got is a treasure and I can't wait to see it progress along.

Ranchers like these old trucks because they can load them up with hay, put them in granny gear and then get back in the bed and throw the hay out in a line by themselves. It was the same story with my first truck (1959 ******) that's all they used it for.

Hood Primer
Great deal for $400. About the primer on the hood, "rattle can" primer, if that's what you're using, is not compatable with most new auto paints. This happened to me when I got my f1 painted. My suggestion would be to use a urethane 2k primer. Epoxy primer will seal the best for rusty areas etc. There is a product called SprayMax which is a spray can with the catalyst in a inner camber. Once released into the rest of the bottle it turns into a true 2k catalyzed primer from a spray can!! Eastwood restoration supplies has it as well a series of paints with a flat finish called "Flatz" which is top coat. The advantage of the urethane 2k primer is once it sets up, it is very resistance to the elements(rain, sun, uv) so you can use it until you are ready to top coat!! Google SprayMax. Hope that helps Zoot

Made a big chunk of progress today, the engine and trans are out! Also, i've sold quite a few parts that i'm not going to be re-using on the build, more than the $400 purchase price actually, so for now the truck is free and making money. But I suspect that since it's now ready for a new powertrain that trend won't continue for long. And I think I have an engine and trans lined up for it too. Anyway, pretty happy about being that much closer to driving it next summer
