Leer "T" Handle Locked/Jammed

The "T" Handle on my Leer Tonneau, is Jammed in the Locked Position. The Lock turns, but won't release the "T" Handle. Was told to push up on the cover with two people, and pull the tailgate down. I'd end up breaking the Cover before the gate would clear. The Screws have thread locking nuts on them, so cutting the "T" Handle is out too. Anyone have any luck with Drilling the lock Cartridge out? I have a new "T" handle, with lock.

A slide hammer puller with a screw tip (designed for pulling body dents) often will pull out the cylinder. I would try that before drilling. After pulling the cylinder, a large wrench on the t-handle may be needed to persuade the latch to open.

I managed to get it open, took three of us, two pulled up on the top. I hooked the cable with a coat hanger and popped one side, then the other. Still was worried I'd crack the top, but all is okay. I'm going to look at Bike Derailler cables and see it I can put a release behind the back seats.

Glad you got it open. Did you figure out why it was jammed?

I guess the Cam broke off the lock cylinder. Even with it out and the snap ring off, I couldn't separate it.

It was broken into when new and they pulled the latch screws out. Now there is a metal plate imbedded in Engine mount fibreglass.
