I am in the process of putting a carbed 351W from my '84 F250 into my '86 F250, which had a EFI 302.
The 302 caught fire under the throttle body.
Anyway the '84 has a Borg Warner transfer case while the '86 has a NP 208 F2.
Both seem to work fine, but the NP needs seals. The Borg Warner appears to be heavier built. But I have no idea which is better.
How do I tell which Borg Warner it is? I didnt really see a tag, just Borg warner in the casting. il look closer tonight.
I didnt even think to check for a difference in the Drive Shafts. Would there be a difference? they looked the same, but again i didn't look closely.
I did completely destroy the front shaft for the Borg Warner. The front axle broke, hill climbing and wrapped the differential around til the u joint locked. twisted the tube like a beer can. We did make it to the top first.
