Dana 44 front end?
Long story short a older guy I know may sell me the front end out of a F150 for damn near dirt cheap. And would it be a decent 4 wheel drive, not for anything competitve, just to get me out of a rut. I would plan on using the F250's coil springs with the Dana 44, also look into swapping the hubs to that of a Dana 50 (So I can run 8 bolt). So would it work? Like I said I just want 4 wheel drive. Not going to pull sled or anything, just want it so I can kick it in if I need it. Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Also I figure it would be a super quick swap since the Dana 44 is like the TTB in the truck all ready, no leaf springs, no nothing.

The Dana 50 TTB and Dana 44 TTB's are quite different. My buddy tried to put a Dana 50 TTB in his bronco with the 44 TTB and it doesn't match up.
Now if you got a solid Dana 44 from a mid to late 70's F150 or 78-79 bronco, those came with coils and you can swap on the 8 lug hubs. Plus it's stronger than the TTB.

I don't think it would last long. I cracked my spider gears in have on my dana 50. Dana 44s really are 1/2 ton pick-up axles.
But it sounds like its a TTB 44 and making that fut under your truck wouldn't be worth it. Like Brown Falcon said, they don't match up. It would be better to just save up and get a dana 60 for up front.

I picked one up this past winter for less than $500 w/ all but steering box & transfer case end of driveshaft. The guy cut the frame at the first body mount under the cab & gave me everything forward. Haven't installed it yet still working on buddies Jeep. Plan to have both done by end of summer. Gears matched what I already have. Try to find a pair of matched axels if your changing gears too or same ft as your rear.

I would say pass up the Dana 44. Take your time and shop. I found a whole truck with a KPD 60 for $800, axle had new warn locking hubs and all the bearings looked to be really new. I put the axle under my 1997 f250 and sold the donor truck with my old spicer 50 under it for $700. So I got a axle and new nerf bars for $100
