thanks for the link. I'll have to make sure to get out there a couple of days. Heads up to me b4 you make the "chicago style pizza" plans. A lot of it is tourist crap, I can steer us in the right direction there (never been known to turn down a meal!). The Byron dragstrip is a great idea, fairly short drive from the campground area. Too bad there's not an IDI boom truck elimination, theyre not exactly known for the aerodynamics.
i'll tell ya what. i can take the southern rout. pm me if your interested.... we could work something out. never been to texas before....
Hope your A/C works Last year I was through TX early/mid July and it was about 113* in west TX.... and about the same in New Mexico and Arizona...
If you go the southern route check out the Oatman Highway (part of Route 66) County Highway 10/Oatman Rd. Short detour off I-40. One of the coolest roads I've been on. Oatman (the city) is interesting itself, but if you want to see some double hairpin turns and rock faces with no guard rails it's an awesome detour. recommend not going with a trailer and I think the max vehicle/trailer length is like 30 feet due to the sharp turns.
The whole Route 66 trip was awesome. Freeways are so boring. And hey Route 66 heading East ends in Chicago
This looks awesome and not too far from me only 700 miles, I'm in upstate NY, I'm not sure I'll be able to head over there though with the holiday so close
a/c is freshly charged. And summer days out here have hit 120* in the shade. First summer in the valley it was 5 days straight of it. Plus the dynamat on the roof and the floor block a ton of radiant heat. Helps keep the interior cool.
lol, what kinda details you lookin for? i figure, leave 2 days before the event. i dont mind trading driving time so we can get there asap. ive got on board air, so if you wanna camp at the site and inflate a air mattress, thats what i plan on doin.
well, depending on the stops its 36 +/- . $250 flat rate for fuel, we can stop for food whenever we get hungry. you dont need a hotel if you decide to camp at the camp spot. rout options are either north or south lol
