Question 81 f100 4.9 water leak?

My 81 has the straight six, and I believe the SROD 4 speed manual tranny. I have water dripping down where the bellhousing meets the rear main seal. I though perhaps a freeze plug or the temp sender were leaking, but they are all dry. Can anyone tell me where in the world this water could be coming from? Surely water can't leak out of the rear main seal. There is no water in the oil, and it is definately water that is dripping out.

Maybe it is collecting on the valve cover and dripping down while being moved or driven.

No, I checked for that. It is not even running right now, I have the gas tank out to replace the sending unit, and I noticed it while I was under there. I saw 4 freeze plugs on the passanger side and 1 on the back-all dry. I checked temp sender, and any area that might be funneling water from the front of the motor-all dry. I'm at a loss, and open to any suggestions....

maybe its riding down the heater hose and down the block. Are you losing antifreeze from your radiator.

Go to parts store and get a leak detector its a uv dye that you can put in the radiator and it comes with a little pin black light. Also try this link its with a 5.0 but same problem https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...rear-main.html
