2007 Front Cowling Left Side Loose

It appears a screw is loose or something but the left side is popping up and if you pop it back in it stays. The three plastic clips that connect the two sides look fine but after a few bumps on the road it comes loose. The only thing that looks like it may be holding it down is a plastic fastener from the top towards the driver side windshild. The dealer says $250 to replace. Left side and right side slide a little bit but the right side (passenger side) feels more secure. I removed the rubber seal but don't see any screws. Any ideas other than replace?

There are alot of posts on this issue. Do a search and there should be plenty pop up. The easiest fix is to add a screw in the middle where the 2 tabs overlap. Takes a 5 cent stainless screw and about 5 minutes. Hopes this helps.

my wife's '07 had the same problem, but we got it fixed uder warranty so I'm not sure what it would've cost. $250 seems like an awful lot to me.

I used a 1/4" diameter plastic rivet like retainer with a broad head, drilled the 1/4" hole so the head overlapped the higher side, pop it in place, not noticeable and it works.

Get them at Lowe's in hardware or auto store I rekon, like what holds the plastic under my Forester.
