Rockwell Build Thread
#722
I know it and completely agree. I'm trying to get ready for an event in the mountains and money is short so I'll having to prioritize spending. Grizzly lockers went up to $450 and the life time warranty is $50 extra. I'm sure as hell not going hill climbing with an open front diff.. And I think the welded spiders are stronger than any locker. I still have a cage to build before June 16. Gotta give me some credit for doing the twin stick, especially for free.

I understand not having a locker in your budget and i agree a properly welded carrier should be as strong as a spool/locker. I do not agree that welding the front carrier was the best idea for a truck that is built for trails.
Twinstick is free to most everyone with half a brain.
Pull t-case -$0
Grind rails - $0 unless you dont have a die grinder and burr
Spare stock shifter - $0 for most people with a small supply of spare parts.
Couple pieces of scrap tube, flat bar and 2 bolts/nuts/washers - $0 for anyone who welds and turns wrenches just a little bit. $5 at most if you had to buy a couple 3' sticks from the metal rack and a couple 1/4" bolts from Lowes.
Reinstall t-case - $0
Did i forget something that adds great expense to this?

Screw the rockwells! With the extra weight your adding, more effort is needed to make the truck go compared to lighter 1 tons done right getting it done.
I'd build steering 14 bolts or a Jana76 over rockwells anyday!
I think Tim Cameron knows what works in link below
