That looks like 1/4" square tube with a piece of 1/4 2x2 plate welded to the end with a 1" drain hole.

I made a front receiverhitch out of 3/8ths 2.5x2.5 square for the frame to frame part, and its got a good bend to it now.. And that's just from tugs on a strap.

 

Haha. You can't move this thing with a battery sitting on it. Once again though, we've built something that ya'll would have built differently. We'll just have to see how out works.

I have decided on new tires though. I want a set of 44" boggers and a set of 46" ags. After I get the front bumper built, I'm gonna start on a set of rockwell 15's unless I can find a used set for cheap.

 

If you had a smaller winch on it I wouldn't see a problem. But that's a hell of a lot of pulling power.

Isnt half (if not 90%+) the point of building a removable hitch mounted winch is REMOVING IT? This ******* is going to weigh 250-300lbs if not more. Its not the issue of 2 guys picking up that much weight roughly waist high...its maneuvering that little 2" square tube into a 2" square socket while holding 300lbs waist high.

Its not that bad, we lifted it in and out several times yesterday. How would you make a 160 pounds winch removable?

 

kirby, i'd skip boggers all together if i was you, but i assume they will be your "street tires" :shakeshead:

just go ags and don't look back. cheaper that way.

 

Id buy 2 and keep my schnuts in their socket where they belong. I probably couldnt move the winch alone if it were sitting on the ground...much less the mount and battery as a unit.



Or Id build a bed mounted jib crane with a boom long enough to reach the front and rear bumper as well as my buddys truck if he parked close enough.

ags don't flex so well on the rocks DAN. I already went the cheap route and we all know how that went.

 

if you want to play on rocks go with 47" LTBs, 44" Rockers or 42" SXs. Boggers have no lateral traction on rocks.

 

Don't be a sissy alpha.. I'm not gonna buy two 1800 dollar winches because you're not man enough to lift 200 pounds waist high.
