Goler Canyon Road to Death Valley

Anyone gone up Goler Canyon Road into Death Valley via Mengel Pass recently?

What was it like?

I know conditions can vary widely from year to year.

I'm thinking of trying it in a stock F150 4x4 with 31x10.50 BFG AT TAs

Well I have no experience at that place. But A/T's won't go far in mud.

Wiseguy.

Yeah, rain-created mud is a *huge* issue in the mountains around *Death Valley.*

Ha,,,,,,, not too many So Ca boys in here. I believe Gil (F350Bronco) and myself are about the only ones that lurk around here.
Ive not been to Death Valley in ages.
Now that the rigs are capable of running Johnson Valley, its all about The Hammers.
Local areas have been limited or closed, so we have to travel further for the more technical trails.
I do believe that your trail might be a bit of a challenge in a stocker.
During our huge rains recently, some of those trails have been rutted up pretty bad, but again this is just speculation, since it has been years since I have been out there.

I have a couple of forestry pals, and others that participate in the Adopt-A-Trail program, so Ill ask.
Hope you are taking a few friends. That place is no place to trek alone. Even phone service is dead out there.
