disconnect battery to change ambient temp sensor?

Hello-

I have just got a replacement ambient temperature sensor.

Do I have to disconnect the battery to switch it out with the old one, or can I just swap them out?

Thanks-

PC

Most all mechanical publications mention to disconnect the batt prior to doing any electrical procedure...now with that being said,I cant for the life of me see why you should have to do it in your case.
As long as the Ignition switch is in the off position,my take on it is just "make it happen"...It would probably take longer to unhook the battery than it will to replace the sensor.

Absolutely. The forum was down this morning before I went to work, so I couldn't read your post, but I put the sensor on without disconnecting the battery. No problemo.

For anyone with a faulty sensor, I got mine online for $15.77 including shipping, and the replacement job was as easy as changing a light bulb.

My temperature sensor is out too. Where is that little booger anyhow? Which website did you snag yours from? Between that, my misfire, and a busted backup sensor, I would be just great.

Here is the link to the temp sensor-

2004 FORD F-150 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor

On my '06, it is standing right out in the open, just in front of the radiator when you open the hood.

I think, on some others it is not so out in the open. Either way, I think it is in front of the radiator.

When you go to the link for the part, you will be able to get a picture, I think. Then you will be able to see what it is looking under the hood.

Here's a link to a photo of the part.
