Have about 1100 mi on the 6.7 at the end of the day today. Drove about 400 total miles today and average fuel economy was 19.3 mpg. It was country roads and didn't exceed 60 mph. Rolling hills and some flat.

Truck was empty and had a/c on. I think the truck will break 20 plus a gallon easy empty or with lite load. Plenty of power on tap at any time! Solid feel and very predicable.

Cruised at 45 mph using throttle (cruise off) and could keep the instant mileage meter way up there! At that speed in this truck I could see it doing low 20s for fuel mileage.

But I'd rather be passing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What gear ratio is the rear end? I have not seen the same type of numbers on mine.

I just turned 3300 miles today. The last 1200 miles or so I have averaged over 19 mpg in very mixed driving conditions. Some at 75 mph, some country driving at 60 or so and a bunch of city driving. I have seen stretches of freeway driving at 75 mph that showed 20.5.

Rickatic what was your method for breaking in your engine. For city driving do you leave your tranny in the drive position or M

I was working in Nebraska when I bought the truck. The traffic and routing I took everyday provided me with the opportunity to run the truck at varied speeds in all different driving conditions for the first 1200 miles. I just drove the truck, did not romp on it much and smiled a bunch. I did not tow until I had 1500 miles on it. All miles were in Drive except for a few to try out the Manual settings. The truck just keeps getting stronger and mileage keeps creeping up.

Regards

My 04 truck had a B&W Turnover ball setup in it when I bought it. I purchased their Companion 5th wheel for towing my Big Horn fiver. It works great. I just put a new Turnover ball hitch and set my Companion in place. The Big Horn has a front cap that allows an 88 degree pivot. I have never needed to turn it that tight. I did pivot it that far once just to see if it was true.

My 2011 F450 6.7 4.30 rear gears, the first 2200 miles at 70MPH-75MPH is getting 15 MPG. From North Dakota to Ct. Will be pulling 17000 lb 5th wheel camper in about two weeks headed toward Colorado Springs. Let you know the pulling MPG when I get there.

JReinert is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I have been doing the same drive every day for the last five weeks and have been getting 14-16.5 mpg. I've been doing 70-75 mph and the drive is 106 miles each way. I have 3.55's with 20"rims. After 2200 miles I changed oil to rotella 5w-40 and noticed a drop in mpg. My truck has 7200 miles on it and just purchased some 10w-30 to put back in it the next oil change.

I wonder why the drop in mileage when the thinner oil... I would have thought thinner oil = less internal resistance = better mileage.
