can anyone tell me the oil capacity for a 477? I have also heard these engines tend to use oil. how mouch oil consumption should I expect?

 

the reason I'm asking is, my dipstick tube is broke in half, and getting an accurate reading is a matter of guessing. if I change the oil, I can start off with an accurate reference point

 

According to my old "MOTORS" manual the crankcase refill capacity is 9 quarts. Never having seen one I'm assuming a canister type oil filter which would be filled before install if a verticle mount and not included in refill capacity. My best guess with the info I have. OBCB
