49 5 Speed Overdrive

Anyone interested in a good one. Figured I would ask before I shop it around. Should fit F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, & F8 for a lot of different years.

As far as I know Ford didn't have a five speed in '48-52, just the three and four speeds.

I apologize, I wasn't thinking about the larger F-7 and F-8 trucks.

If it's for the F-7 and F-8 with the 337 I would doubt it would fit the smaller flathead and if it did it would be a low geared heavy beast. From the drawings it looks like they have different mounting surfaces. I'm sure it would take a lot of modifications to make it fit the frame without any benefit but I could be wrong.

No: F1-F6 used the same trans/ bell housing, etc. They used different stanchions under the transmission to adjust for the larger frames, but the main parts are the same.

F7 and F8 used the bigger flat V8 (337 cid) and the 5 spd trans.
The 5OD was standard on the F7 and optional on the F8.
The plain 5 spd was std on the F8 and optional on the F7.
IF I remember what the shop manual and operator's manual says.

But if he used the bell from his F-600 Y-block, would the 5OD bolt up to that, and be the right length to flywheel?

BTW, the upper of Bob's pictures is the 5OD, and I don't see any synchros...?

I dont know if you guys are familiar with the 60s internationals, but they used 3 and 4 speed trans that should bolt right up to a ford. I have a 63 c1300 with a straight 6 and it has 4.88s and is SLOW. It has a three speed and a five speed with overdrive would be sweet for that truck. and if it did not bolt up as planned then it should go in my 54.

Oh shoot, I don't know - I didn't see he was talking about a '54 and Y block - must have only seen his user name. Talking before thinking again - sorry.
