ok can someone tell me or show me what the steering stops are supposed to look like? I think something is missing on them because they dont look right and my wife now says it makes it in hard turns both ways I put some grease on the friction points for the steering stops and the noise seem to be gone i will give it a few drive before i say its the problem

thanks wayne

I would certainly suggest you get the weight off the front wheels and check the ball joints and tie rod ends for looseness.

I would be checking the CV joint..... for the popping

Definitely the BJ and tie rod ends for stiffness.

ok i will but its just one quick hard pop that you can feel in your feet

is there any positive way to check your lower control arm bushings because i believe i can see fatigue in my right lower C A which would make sense that it takes more strain when turning left.

thanks wayne

Different kettle of fish...... check U joints and slip joints.. you have to drop shafts to check properly...... if not shaft check transmission mount.

My son's Mountaineer had the same problem and it was repaired under the aftermarket extended warrantee. I have it posted back in Dec. or Jan. with at least 1 pic. PM your email address and I'll email a bunch of pics to you.

Yes, mark the flanges of the drive shaft and t/case and the dif. to keep it in balance, a crayon or paint stick does a good job
