clutch pedal broke..

so my clutch pedal broke were it meets with the rod for the master cylinder, did a quick fix to get it going but something else broke....whatever holds the clutch pedal in line with the brake pedal. so now my clutch pedal is only about 2" away from the parking break release, the clutch is still perfectly functioning, just the peday is WAY too high. anyone dealt with this?

back a while ago, there were two recalls/TSB's dealing with the clutch release ball breaking and the clutch fork(?) being weak and flimsy, but I remember they were on f 150's. Mostly when ford does a clutch they put in the "NEW improved" fork, but not for free and it is a mandatory replace part. I think $100 from the dealer, and the 2003's and better got a better fork during build.

Apparently the multipurpose mount failed on your truck, probably a JY item now, never heard about that before.

i was just told that it is the master cylinder, and when i look at where the rod is going in to the master i can see a spring being extended too far out, he said it has happened to him twice, there is a clip that brakes in the master cylinder and causes it to come out too far. any truth to this?

i guess that is a possibility...but not the master cylinder, my vote is the slave cylinder...but if that part is prone to breakage, can it not be repaired, or do you have to get a new one???

They're probably talking about the clutch master cyl which drives the fluid down to the clutch slave.

I broke the aluminum casting that holds the assist spring in place. The big casting that looks really thin where it broke...
