Well usually when the air box is off you don't get water in the intake, the usual scenario is water dripping on the rear edge of the air box lid and pooling there and only then overflowing towards the center bolt and from there down into the intake plenum. Give it a shot anyways tho, but when you pull the plugs (all of them too) try to rotate the engine with the breaker bar first, then when all the water is out you can hit the starter - yeah it's a pain but you won't bend any rods like that

soooo... I pulled all the gps today, and the one aft on the driver side came out without the tip... awesome, dosnt look broken just the whole tip is missing, it was also the only ac delco plug, the rest were autolites. I geuss the previous owner thought it was too much trouble to reach. anyway I didnt try crankin it after I found that im just gonna have to pull the injector off... might be able to reach it through there ive never tried it on these engines. But I geuss if I cant ill have to take the heads off to reach it huh? If I do snd nothings damaged I geuss id be a good time for a head stud kit and a turbo!!! I tryn not to be too pissed about it but oh man I was at the time.

out the gp hole? ill give it a try i geuss, worse comes to worse ill have to rebuild the motor or jus go pull another one. If the water in the intake was the problem to begin with. ill firgure it out eventually its just been frusturating seein it parked for a few weeks with barely any time to work on it.

Most times after the fluid stops entering the cylinders, it will drain through the ring gaps to the oil pan.
That may take some time, but it will drain out.
If the hood to firewall gasket is shot, water may be draining on top of the air cleaner or into the intake every time it rains.
That water will wind up in a cylinder and can hydrolock the engine.
It don't take much fluid in the cylinder to hydrolock the engine.

If the GP didn't give you any resistance when you took it out, there's a good chance that the tip has already been blown out the exhaust. If that's true, you dodged a major bullet. David85 can tell you what might happen if the tip gets caught between the head and piston.
Good luck,

You won't get the cranking RPM's needed with a single 550cca battery even with a jump box.
These IDI's use an incredible amount of amps for startup.
As Dave stated, you need 2 good 850cca batteries, One could get away with less on a near perfect starting motor, any problems and you'll kill them.
-Enjoy
