I have a 2WD small block ZF5 transmission for sale. It came out of a 1991 F250 with a 5.8L engine. The mileage is unknown, but it is in great shape. There are no leaks and no play in the input shaft. The shifter moves freely, but does not feel loose. It firmly goes into gear. The input and output turn freely in all gears, there is no grinding or odd noises when tuning it by hand. It has the place for a cable driven speedo as well.

Originally i bought it and was planning on converting it to 4x4. But i stumbled across a 4x4 ZF only hours before tearing it apart and decided to use the 4x4. I feel like the ZF5 is heavy duty enough that there is no way that there would be issues with it coming from behind a 5.8L.

It is a S5-42 with a 5.72 1st gear and a .75 Overdrive.
It has a fixed rear yoke.

I have a 1980 F100, 300 six with three on the tree manual tranny, and would like to put in a 5 speed. Would your ZF s5-42 bolt right in?

 

If this is a small Block ZF5 then I should be able to change the bell housing with mine from a 300 I-6, If this is the case, is this transmission still for sale? And are you willing to assist in the crating process? Are you willing to drive to a shipper or truck transit yard to complete the sell?
I will continue my research while awaiting a reply from you! I hope this is the case, if so then a simple bell housing swap and a I should be good to go !!!

sorry for such a delay in reply's. Im currently off at school and free time is at a minimum.

Anyways, i do still have the trans if anyone is interested. I will help in crating and shipping, but i all the expenses(expect packing supplies ei: crate, strapping ect) will have to be cover by the buyer. The only know issue of the trans is that it is missing one bolt that holds the PTO cover on. This is a special bolt that is machined specifically for this type of trans. You can get one from any big block or small block zf-5, however, at 1st chance i will get one from a trans shop supplier i know.

This transmission has a integral bell housing, meaning that it will only work with small block ford engines. You cannot swap the bell housing on this transmission.

Also, i will not be able to ship this trans immediately. I can get it ready at thanks giving any hopefully get it shipped soon after. And i will do my best to get it shipped quickly. Please understand my situation.
