Been playing Tag over on the VTX website. It's been nice out riding local roads I never travel on for some reason. Getting some nice shots of the bike. Just thought I would share a few.
Ok, I am throwing out a teaser.
Would there be any interest to buy a bike I just found?
1974 Yamaha RD250 two stroke engine, All original except the battery. Mileage on the odometer reads 396.1 miles. Looks like it was in a time capsule.
Yep, A friend and I are partners on the bike and looking to turn enough to do some extra riding this year. We decided to go in 50/50 on the bike and what ever we get out of it we put in an envelope and use it to go on a good long extra ride this year. Just sounded like a good idea.
That 900 is supposed to have decent power and I know a few people who run them 2up on the highway and like them. One of the guys is prolly close to 275-300# and still likes it 2up. Of course the 1700 is gonna be quicker just from the extra torque. Everyone claims 45-50mpg out of the 900, my carb 1500 is only doing about 36. My buddy has a 1600 and is doing about 40-42, the 1700 I've heard claims of anywhere from 36-42.
A deciding factor will prolly be if you want a around town bike or a long distant comfortable bike you can cruise down the interstate at 80+ on. The 1700 should be 6 speed and the 900 is only 5 and alot of people say they look for another gear on the interstate. But they have a couple different pulley options that help with that available for the 900.
