I'm new to the Jacksonville, FL area and am trying to locate a good and trustworthy diesel mechanic/garage. Just bought a 04 F-350 and tho I might trust the dealership to do somethings, I haven't had the greatest experiences with dealerships in the past. Hopefully I won't need anything major in the near future, but being prepared will be a plus. Also, some people have been telling me that if I switch to amsoil for my next oil change that I won't have to change my oil for 15,000 miles or so. Any truth to that. Still doing research for both issues, any info would be greatly appreciated..

I'm thinking about just having the dealer change pretty much all of the fluids. I know when buying a new/used vehicle, I take the risk having to dump money into right away. Unfortunately I have an alignment issue/shocks or something cause I have major wear on the inside of the rear tires. As I had mentioned previously, I have had issues with dealership in the past. The last vehicle I owned, the mechanics at the dearlership were merely parts changers. If it wasn't on the work order, they couldn't spot it. They put new tires on a vehicle with a blown shock and sent me on my way. To that I will say that not all dealerships work in that manner.
I just read an older post in regards to "amsoil" that it is possible to get kicked off or banned for your comments on that subject. So let me rephrase my question... I am new to diesels, not sure what type of oil the dealership uses, and have heard a coulpe of opinions on types of oil to use. I just want to do the right thing and keep my vehicle in top working condition without going broke. Heard a oil change can cost a couple hundred dollars. just trying to gather info and do my own research. It is ultimately my decision. Thanks for the help...
