Lift Vs. Towing

Lift Vs. Towing
I have a question, how does your lift affect the weight you can tow? I can't remember exactly where I read it, but I could have swore that lifting your truck decreases performance during heavy towing... I have been kind of curious about this since I got my truck, any help would be greatly appreciated

How much lift? 2" with some 35's wont hardly change anything, especially if you aren't installing an entirely new leaf pack or new front coils. An 8" lift with new springs and 39" tires with massive sidewalls, yeah you're going to have to watch some more things when you're towing. Bed height affects in bed hitches, hitch height affects weight distributing hitches. Regearing becomes incredibly more important the bigger your tires are, because you can't expect to turn 40s and tow 15k without helping out the transmission and engine some. Tire weight ratings become an issue, because a lot of oversize tires are D rated, and even though they have high enough numbers they have a lower ply count, and will heat up worse under load than smaller tires with a higher rating.
It's all a matter of how big the lift, and how heavy the trailer.
