So I finally got my CCV mod and oil trap done! Now I can clean up my engine and install the new IC boots I got from Clay @ Riff Raff Diesel. Thanks to Guzzle and Chris and everyone else that helped give me direction and ideas on this mod.
Can you give us some more info on the trap? I don't like the CCV mod's smell and smoke under the door. I was considering extending it out but a trap would be the best.

Second on that. Would like to build a trap myself.
Dan how often would you have to check the trap to make sure its not pluged?
I check my trap about once every 3000 miles or so. I open up the petcock and a teaspoon of oil comes out (if that). I never had any issues in the time I've had my trap on my truck. I recently unscrewed the cap to check the filter media and it was pretty clean. I just reinstalled the same filters and was done.
Dan in your pics it looks like you have the hose from the engine in the top and the exit on the bottom. Should'nt it be the other way or does it not matter?
Im thinking of building a trap because the oil getting on the bottom of my truck is beginning to pi$$ me off!!

Costa, I have my trap plumbed that way because I wasn't thinking right... (not a huge surprise ) and never turned the trap around to have the inlet face the engine but quite honestly, I don't have any oil come out the open hose end. I need to switch it and see if there is any difference.
Just to be clear, the trap does not eliminate smoke and/or from the hose end, just traps the liquid oil vapors and keeps that oil from entering into the turbo, CAC tubes, etc. After running my truck for a while and stopping at a stoplight, I will see a wisp of smoke come out from under the truck but it doesn't bother me at all. After seeing all the oil collect in my CAC tubes and boots and the mess it makes, I will gladly but up with the occasional smoke.
What Chris said, ^^^^^ thanks for answering the questions Chris. As far as the smoke, I guess because I have the tube running over the pumpkin and towards the tailpipe that if I am getting any smoke I just can't tell because its so close to the exhaust.
