Towing questions and PHP CHIP QUESTIONS

Hey i'm new to the powerstroke show! First off i'm fixing to install my gauges. What are the Maximums? esp EGT. Then second i have a question when i'm towing anything sometimes just empty it makes a sound like it is sucking for air not sure how to explain usually anything under 2100 rpm my dads does it and my brothers doesn't. Has a AEM filter and 3.5 full exhaust no muffler or cat and php chip. Anything to worry about? Finally for the guys with php chips what setting do you see the best economy on? My truck did way better with my evolution and i don't like that thanks

As far as the gauges go, Navistar recommends maximum sustained EGT of 1240 degrees. You can run that temperature for extended periods of time without damage.
Transmission temperatures should not exceed 220 degrees.

The "sucking" sound you're hearing is likely to be compressor surge. It can be very harmful to the turbocharger if done a lot or for long periods.

Either the 80 DD or 100 Perf. should do similar for economy. What kind of driving do you do? In-town start and stop or highway?

i do alot of both kinds of driving but in town tends to be hot rodding! i like to roll coal on the car next to me So i don't complain bout that mileage i'm talking on highway. Is running it on 140 going to hurt anything as long as egt is in check? What the cheapest way to fix this surge? I'm tired of throwing money at this truck thanks guys

Running the 140 won't hurt anything except during hard acceleration upshifts.

Cheapest way to maybe fix it? "Wicked Wheel". It's not the easiest job to do though.
BEST way to fix it is to put an ATS ported compressor housing on it. It's really easy, too.
