So I read today the the injectors go bad slowly, and that they should be replaced about every 100k miles.
On my truck, I noticed that 6 of the injectors are painted the factory engine gray, and the other two are black. I also noticed that all the return lines are gray, except 1. This coupled with the two gray injectors I found IN the truck make me think that it has 6 original injectors, and an almost all original return system. This truck has about 160k on it. Should I be looking at replacing the injectors? Is there a way to tell if they are working 100%?

Not without a pop tester.

Injectors are ~$200 for a set.

It's best to replace them all at once.

If your truck starts fine after setting overnight there is nothing wrong with the return lines.

However, If you do replace the injectors it is also wise to use a Injector Installation Kit, in doing so you'll be replacing the return lines.

If the injectors are getting weak/worn, fuel mileage and performance decline.

The injectors leak at the return lines. First thing on my list to do, but I am thinking maybe just do the injectors at the same time... What can you find them for $200? Looks like $46 a piece from Napa.

You suggest re-man, or new?

Found these
7.3 L Ford Diesel Fuel Injectors Fuel Pumps Accessories

They specify a year, and a code?
