4" exhaust upgrade and up pipe seal replacement gone awry (Pictures)

OK. I have some pictures to share but before I share these pictures I thought I'd let you know what is going on......
So I cut out my stock 3.5" exhaust today to give it the 4" upgrade and while doing this I thought this would be a great time to pull out that passenger's side donut seal and replace it and be rid of exhaust leaks and get more boost!!
Well I couldn't have been more wrong In the process of trying to unbolt the clamp for the up pipe seal I broke the head of the bottom bolt right off!!! So now I have the turbo, pedestal and exhaust combiner out in order to get off this one stupid bolt
So, the bolt is off and here is what it looks like now..............

So now that I have the pedestal off I believe it is time to rebuilt it and fix it as I think it is slowly leaking oil. Here are some pictures, what do you think? Think it's leaking and can it be rebuilt?

Also, now that I have the turbo off I'm going to finially install the new impeller as my old impeller is a bit worn after 200K miles......

Here are some additional Pictures.....

Past nest?

Either get a rebuild kit for the EBPV actuator from Riffraff LINK, gut it or replace it with a non-EBPV pedestal.

Yea, I'm thinking that I want to keep my EBPV as I want to use it as an exhaust break. I'll also be wiring in a switch to be able to switch my EBPV between on, off and PCM.

Then I guess you're going with the rebuild kit.

Yeppers, guess so. So you think that is where it's leaking? the pedestal? It's the only place I can think of and the turbo seals looked very very good but will be replaced anyhow as i did pull the turbo and the seals were kind of hard.

Judging from the oil on the base of the pedestal the actuator is leaking. Not bad because it's not all wet, but worth fixing while it's out. It can go from not bad to real bad in a hurry.

My thought exactly. So can anyone think of anything else I should do while I'm in there? I'm thinking of installing the fuel rail crossover mod while I have it all apart so I can feed #8 better. Looks like I'll be doing lots of updates and fixing.

This is a good time for you to check the fuel lines to each head.

The passenger side line can start leaking where it runs through a supporting p-clamp. Next time I have a chance I am going to split a short piece of rubber fuel line the right size to fit over that line and place it between the fuel line and that clamp. Got this idea from SpringerPop.

Check the fuel line on the driver side to make sure it is not rubbing on the back of the IPR. I already have a piece of split rubber fuel line protecting that part of this fuel line. Got this idea from myself after seeing that it was rubing on the IPR nut. Another member had that line rub through and start leaking. He also had an E99 like us. The new fuel line replacemant had a different bend and came nowhere near the IPR.

Well, I cleaned my pedestal and here are the pics. I don't think I'll be cleaning my turbo though for two reasons. One the exhaust side looks like rust and I might as well have it coated if I do that and two I don't want to take it all apart and get water in side.

Some have used the VHT paint on the exhaust side with good results IIRC

The VHT paints do come in different colors. I wish that I had done mine when I installed the 38R

Just wire brush the rust off and you should be all set
