Okay guys I'm new and I'm a Chevy guy... Wait, wait don't flame me yet. I'm a chevy guy because my first chevy was a 77 1-ton 4x4 which was a mule. Well to make a long story short I bought a 2002 Silverado 2500HD. I really think the truck is underpowered and I question it's abilty to last. The 6.0 is a turd while pulling and I'm looking at getting a PSD. What do you guys think I should do go used on the PSD and save money or go new and get a warranty but spend more $$$?
If you can afford it, you can't go wrong with new. You get everything you want with no compromise. There have been a few problems with the new 6.0 PSD engine. You might want to check the diesel forum for more info. As far as used PSD's, the 7.3 has been around for quite a while. I use one to tow a 38ft. enclosed fifth wheel racecar trailer. The truck tows it like the trailer is not even there. the truck is a 1998 and has never been back to the dealer for any problems. Either way you go, I think you'll be happy with the Super Duty. I just bought a gas job Super Duty and I absolutely love it. Rides like a truck, drives like a truck, looks like a truck. If you're gonna buy a truck, buy a truck. Not a truck wannabe. Drove a new GMC, drove like a car, rode like a car. Hated it. BTW, welcome to FTE. Stick around. The guys on this site are pretty sharp and are always willing to help. You'll find this site invaluable. I know I do.
Welcome the site! As warranty goes, the PSD has a 100K warranty. I would see what you can find used so that the first owner pays some of the depriciation on that $5K diesel option. What kind of gear do you have behind the turd?
The Chebby is a reg. cab 2500HD 4x4..5spd with 4.10's out back
Sitting on 285's and the T-bars and cranked all the way. I want a Powerstroke pretty bad I try and pull anything with the Chebby and It's going to kill it.. I pull around our 4810 Posi Trac and it's all the Chev wants. Your right though they don't feel like a truck. Our Superduties at work feel like a truck and I feel confident in their abilites to pull and haul. With the Chebby it's a plus if it hauls or pulls it, kinda like flipping a coin you don't know what's going to happen.

Better be looking at the F350. The 2500HD is an intermediate step, slightly heavier (GVWR) than the F250. For the price difference, it isn't much more for the extra weight rating of the 350. It doesn't help with the trailer tow rating though. Oh, and if you are set on the manual tranny, plan on ordering... they don't stock them on the lots... at least not here in sunny central Illinois.

If it were me, I'd go used on the PSD. Get a 7.3, unless you're willing to wait until next year. The 6.0 has a lot of teething pains. I know I won't buy a first year model release again...ever, after being burned before. The 7.3 pulls great and absolutely rocks with a chip installed. With a 100K warranty, you should be able to find one.
Ditto on the:
Chevy=Car
Ford=truck
