Ways to install gooseneck hitch

so I have this style hitch that I found at the junk yard and was thinking of how to install it. I'd like to just slip in some thin rectangular tubing on the flat spot of my frame but it's supposed to be like 4 inches past the front axle. Any good write ups on this ? I do have a welder FYI that I know how to work.

If you know the manufacturer of the receiver, you could find the installation manual for the unit. Typical install has a robust framework under the bed, bolted to the frame. The receiver then sandwiches the bed between it and the framework.

I had that hitch In my 94 and didn't like it. It seemed to be loose or flexing or something and jerked you back and forth in the seat even with an empty trailer on a smooth road. If you do use it, do what ray said and make a VERY robust framework for it to mount to.

You need to go back to the salvage yard and get the side plats and the cross bars.
