I don't believe they did, but they don't even use type F in dealerships anymore because everything is replaced by Mercon V or Mercon LV. There isn't much to change on a power steering pump other than pressure or pulley size conidering it is just a simple belt driven pump for hydraulic fluid
EDIT: I would also just like to add that Ford PS pumps are just loud in general.
found that picture on the ford website. They still recommend type F and Ford still makes their own type F fluid.

Didn't say they didn't make it, no one uses it. MercV works perfectly fine in older PS systems. If you look up their type F obviously it is going to say what it was originally made for. MercV is used in all ford PS systems now and is what most any Ford dealer will put in your PS in older trucks. We can still get Type F, but it is much more costly because it is used rarely if at all, so it is not bought in bulk, such as MercV or MercLV. Our part guys have Ford recommended fluid sheets that tell them what fluid to charge out, my 88 with a c6 is recommended MercV for both the PS system and the trans, although it would have been type f for both back when it was made.
EDIT: As a comparison, think of DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid and how you can put DOT 4 into a DOT 3 system but not the other way around. The newer stuff has properties that exceed those of the old. Or when it comes to oil, you can actually use diesel oil in gasoline (have to check the properties first) because some diesel oils exceed the properties of gasoline oil. Lots of motorcycle riders buy diesel oil because it exceeds motorcycle oils and is cheaper

I'm just picky about using the recommended fluids. Obviously I don't work at a Ford dealership. I personally stick with the fluids originally reccomended(such as not using 5w20 in these older engines despite Ford saying you can). In all honesty it probably doesn't matter what ATF is used in these pumps. An 88 c6 never used type F though. That transmission has been mercon since 1977.
