John, do you have a threaded boss in your exhaust? If so, what size? Most of the ones I've seen are 1/8" NPT. How long does your wire have to be? How long do you want your probe?

i was planning to drill and tap a hole in the manifold. I would say 5 ft of wire would be more than enough. Length of the probe doesnt matter.

Size 1500 mm

Wonder if the threads are going to be metric?

Just read a post a while back, thermocouple threads larger than 1/8" pipe thread, smaller than 1/4" pipe thread and not matching any SAE or USS bolt threads.

That post may have been in the Power Stroke forum.

Sorry John, my friend only has a 4" thermcouple. Way to long for your app. The only problem is you will have to get a Metric tap to install that one. Fastenal has them, but they're pricey.

thanks for looking anyways. yea 4 inch is a little excessive for this app. Tech center has metric taps I can use im sure. they have like 2 of everything else lol. If not theirs a fastenal right in town. any place specific i should mount this thing? i was thinking all the way back on the drivers side manifold.

I've seen them mounted on the exhaust pipe as close to the flange as possible. We used to take a 1/8 pipe connector and cut it in half. Weld it on, makes a nice looking hookup.
