pappesa......A highboy is a 70's factory lifted truck, A lot of us here have them. I guess the numbers your refering to, example ..F150, F250 and F350 is model type, not HP but more along the lines of suspension and weight carrying and towing capacity, Custom and Lariat are other models with other features or options. Try asking these your questions in the 70's and 80's truck forums.
I like my truck because it serves me well as a farm truck. With the options it has (power windows, door locks, tilt wheel, etc.), I don't think that's what the original owner had in mind for it, but has stood up to whatever I have thrown at it (within reason, of course). It does'nt care whether the temperture is -10 or 100 above, it hauls whatever I ask of it, has only left me stranded once (my fault, I saw the signs and did'nt do anything about them). I have'nt washed it or swept it out since I bought it a year and a half ago, but that gives it a "farm-used" look that it wears well next to the brand new trucks that have never seen a gravel road or been used to haul buckets of corn and bales of hay. And while I'd love to have a new SD 4x4, my 18 year old half-ton 4x4 is paid for, and I'm not ashamed to drive it anywhere, from the local beer joint to the grain elevator to the best restaurant in town. I have a car that I keep for long trips, but everywhere else I go, Billy Mac takes me there. And brings me back home.
