Engine swap compatability
Hi all, I have a friend that's having a motor swap done on his 95 Explorer. The junkyard sold him a 94 engine, and his mechanic is telling him that it won't fit. Something about the motor mounts not lining up correctly.
Any ideas? Any truth to this?

According to my salvage interchange these are a direct fit.
EXPLORER 1995 4.0L, VIN X)
EXPLORER 1996 (4.0L, VIN X)
MAZDA B-4000 1995-96 4.0L, VIN X)
RANGER 1995-96 6-245 (4.0L, VIN X)
The AEROSTAR 1995-96 (4.0L, VIN X) fits by switching intake plenum, exhaust manifolds
These will fit by making the following changes
Upper intake manifolds '91-92 have no EGR holes & '93-94 are available with or without EGR holes.
Switch oil pans as necessary. Pan changes in 1994.
Exhaust manifolds must be switched '91-92 & 93-94.
Left hand exhaust manifolds must be switched Cal./Fed. '93-94.
Right valve cover must be changed for extended oil filler.
Available with or without low oil sensors.
