MI conceal and carry laws?
Since I am moving to MI, I will probably have bring a pistol (or 2) with me. I know it has to be cased and unloaded when I pass through IL, but once in MI, what are some of the common carry laws that I should know.
I will be reading the direct statutes to make sure I dont miss anything, but some of the bigger laws like no carry in bars, no carry in places with more than xxx people would be a nice for a heads up. Or anything that really needs to stand out.
Thanks,
Pete

If you don't have a permit to carry in your home state you must have a Michigan CPL or you can not carry.
Here is a link to MSP's faq page on concealed carry in Michigan.
MSP - Michigan's Concealed Pistol Law - FAQs
This should give you all of the info you need.

Always carry in flint, detroit and saginaw.
Those are the rules.
hahaha.
It's actually law that you can carry unconcealed, but I'm sure they will throw you in jail if you do. Police and people do not care about rights and laws, only what they want.
Cops generally freak out here in MI if you have a CCW.
But far as I know, no public places and your good. Not that it should be a big deal with the public place thing. Thats just silly. Every place but your own home is public.

As with anything else common sense plays a large part in the difficulty one could encounter carrying a concealed pistol in a no carry location. It can also have a great deal of positive impact on the outcome of ones contact with an officer of the law. I think it was Forest Gump's momma who said "Stupid is as stupid does". I don't mean that personally it's just an observation from 30 years of being a cop. Even being a retired deputy sheriff I can not legally carry everywhere. Federal buildings including post offices and casinos are a couple.
