Mike -
I told my dealership I wanted X plan pricing on a new Super Duty. They asked if I qualified for the X plan to which I said I did not. After some hemming and hawing, the manager said he was willing to order a truck for me and guaranteed X plan pricing whether he could get me a pin or not. To him, it was a question of selling a truck with some profit or not selling a truck.
I'm happy to say I completed my order and was given an order confirmation with MSRP and all the other plan prices listed clearly. In my case, a very loaded Lariat MSRP is $61215, X plan is $55876.32 and A/Z/D plan is $53618.62. Keep in mind that x plan is $100 over "invoice" but the truth is that the actual cost to the dealer is slightly less than the A/Z/D price. Any amount between A/Z/D and MSRP is the actual profit to the dealer. If the dealer won't give you X plan price, you should go somewhere else because there are many dealers who will. In my case, the dealer will net about $2,400 profit from me after all is said and done. I think that is fair.
I'm surprised that you cannot get the pin from your original source. X plan is for family and friends and you know that anyone can be a "friend". A/Z/D plans are for immediate family only with severe restrictions and penalties from Ford if used improperly.

I don’t have an X Plan number. I went and talked to the fleet sales manger I had orderde trucks from in the past and I ordered my 2011 Lariat with every option (- 5th wheel prep) and got my truck for $55,800. Sounds like I got X pricing without even having to ask.
Did you get a 250 or a 350?

Here's a page that describes X Plan availability. Remember though that X Plan is available to most who simply ask for it. In my case, I pressed the dealer to have him either give me a pin or just match the price and he was quite willing to do so. To me, X Plan represents a fair profit to the dealer and removes the uncertainty of negotiating for the consumer.

Click on the link for detailed info on Ford's X Plan. Note the logos which show Ford Partners and Ford Friends and Neighbors. Just about anyone can qualify under that description
