!978 E150 brake booster leaks
Hi I just joined the forum. I have a problem with the brake booster which leaks when cold ( around 30-40 deg F. ) When it is cold the vacuum it not held and the brake pedal gets hard to push. It works OK when it is warm as it is now. It holds vacuum now so I am not sure what is wrong but I would like to get a replacement and was looking for recommendations where to get one. THe Ford dealer does not have them.
thanks for any suggestions

Start checking for a vacuum leak at the hoses first.
Replace all the hoses.
Replace the air filter (one way) that blocks gasoline fumes from going to booster.
IF that doesn't work.. test the brake booster for a leak with a vac gauge.
20" hg is normal, drop to 10hg when you press brakes, but should recover very quick
If not.. suspect bad booster --- very cheap $100 or so to get a new one.
Napa is where I start.
