WOOHOO SHAFT PLAY

now, i know why half of you clicked on this thread and you should be ashamed of yourself. so my week starts out like this... driving to san diego, brand new heater core line blows and dumps out $60 in elc. thankfully it happened next to a chevron so i looped the system with my good hose and filled with water. come back home wednesday, thursday at 3am i leave for LA to deliver 2 cars. on my way back my right front tire throws a huge piece of tread. so, im 120 miles from home and decide to limp it home going 40mph.

yesterday, i throw on my spare 35" tires that came with the truck (always keep a spare set of tires/wheels) and my heart drops cause it looks terrible on those tiny tires. decide to install my caps and return line since its been leaking fuel since i installed the new engine. just finish up with that and decide i should check my turbo for shaft play, and BINGO! push and pull, up and down GREAT! $600 to rebuild it and i STILL cant get the ats elbow.
decide instead of replacing the half worn tire with a new one at the cost of 454, im going to just get the shackle reversal kit, rear shackle flip kit and throw on those 46's i want. man, this is gonna be one crappy christmas for whoever i get for secret santa

hahah I didnt get it at first now I'm only farmiliar with the variable vane turbos on the 6.0's I know those couldnt be rebuilt only "cleaned" but its nice that these turbos can be, that aside doesnt the shaft sit on some type of bearing and when that goes you get your shaft play, cant you just replace the bearing? and be on your way Orero?

bearings would be nice, and some new turbos have them, but these have bushings instead, lubricated by constant oil flow from the engine.

LOL I figured right away it was the turbo then oreo gives a cute little intro to get my supper bubbling away down there

Oh you can bet I get it.....NOW

Have you thought about just getting a rebuilt kit? If bearings are all thats needed, you could probably swap it out yourself.
