shifter illumination

I have an '88 Bronco II with automatic transmission. Is the shifter supposed to be illuminated so as to see what gear you are in at night? The owner's manual doesn't describe a bulb for this.

Yes....it should be illuminated. The bulb is probably blown. I replaced the bulb in mine recently. Remove the shift cover held down by four screws. Inside there is a small socket that holds the bulb. It's very small....looks sort of like a small Christmas tree bulb. You can buy a replacement at AZ or any of the aftermarket places.
