2009 ford f250 5.4l engine pingning
hey guys got a issue, my truck has developed a slight ping under low/mid level acceleration happens when truck is cold or warm and seems power also dropped slightly, happens between 1000 rpm and 2000 rpm only, the only change i have found is that it just started this wed when the temp went from 50f out side to around 88f. could it be caused by getting some bad gas? i filled my truck up last week when tank was slightly lower than 1/4 i at a not too highly trafficked area. anyway it also is not popping any trouble codes on my scanner and the dash check engien light is not flickering or going on and off. i just filled up today at my local bp station that has a very high turn over and dumped 2 cans of bg 44k in for good measure, is there any thing i can check to see if somethin is loose or what? what would cause this issue to begin with, i am stumped.

I have the same problem with mine. I took it in and they said its normal and to get better gas. Told them the manual say to run 87 octane to which they had no reply. I hooked up the trailer that i'll be towing and it was pinging bad. I ended up getting a sct tuner and had it tuned for 91 octane and run 87 in it and it doesn't ping. I don't get it at all.
let me know what you find out.
i'm trying to save up the cash to get my truck tuned by 5 star tuning...

I had this issue with my 2006 F250 and will probably run into it with the 2010. When I had not towed a camper trailer for awhile (winter time) the engine developed a ping under light load. I had read the these 5.4s can carbon up a bit. After towing heavy loads for extended times in the summer I noticed that the pre-detonation (pinging) had stopped. I also ran some fuel treatment when towing.
Short of working the engine hard for extended periods. Try a little engine cleaner or sea foam to burn off some carbon.
