My brother picks up my 1974 SCS this coming Sunday. I get to see it in a little less than a month. But I am also eye-balling a quite rusty and tired 74 SCS that had been rode hard and put away wet, but it appears to have all the miscellaneous parts that the one my brother is pickup needs and is in the same region. What are you guys seeing for pricing for a rusty bodied but has most trim and is a decent runner worth? Both trucks are 390/C-6 trucks. The three main things I want off the rusty one is the stock hubcaps, factory Ford frame mounted camper tiedowns and a decent canopy. It also has various trim pieces that my all original SCS is missing or are lightly damaged.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

That is one of the reasons that I bought it. Not too many out there still wearing their factory paint in good shape with no rust issues!

ALL 1968/78 460's are internally balanced as are some 1979 460's.

1979:

If the block casting number is: D1VE-6015-AB or A1B or A2B = Internal balance.

If the block casting number is: D9TE-6015-AB = External balance (has a weighted crank spacer).

1979 only affects F150/350 & E250/350. 1978 was the last year that Passenger Cars were available w/a 460.

Just picked up a 73 f350 scs with, supposedly, a blown motor. The 390 2v turns over fine but won't start. May be some knocking in the bottom end while trying to start. PO stated it overheated and burnt up. Shows 65k on odometer so no telling miieage, but generally looks like someone took care of it before PO. He owned it a couple years. Rad is full, no sign of oil. Oil looks good, no milkshake. Strange. Haven't done a compression test yet, but why would an overheating episode cause low compression? I'll post photos later for you, but I'm still running my 74 f100 with a 360 2v. Considering swapping the 360 into the 73scs. Opinions? Many thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. I assumed he was talking about VIN numbered blocks not casting numbers. I did see somewhere people saying they had found VINs stamped on block rear face but I have never seen one on any.

1979 f350 TRAILER SPECIAL SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT PARTS

HI, trying to find out what i am missing. i have the two saddle parts, the original mount seems to be intact on the frame, but the inside saddle part dosent seem to be wide enough to mount on the frame mount. i have a breakdown that shows a piece coming over the frame ares i.e maybe out of one of the bed supports, which seems to have a shaft running thru it, but doesnt show a parts refference. is the rear saddle supposed to bolt to both sides of the mount or just one? any help would be appreaciated. thanks. tracy

Hi, I just changed my mind. I was half way through a part out of a 76 SCSTS and might have found a good home for the frame and box but was really dragging my feet on the deal. After ready a few threads I realize this truck is as cool as I suspected. 460 and c6 need work but frame is good and box is restoreable. This wil be fun

My truck had a good frame and a ok box, rotted cab, so I found a good crew cab, cut 33.5" out of the bed and (after a lot of work) I have a old Super Crew.

Did Ford ever factory build SCS 4x4?

Just came back to the forum to say that my sister finally drove my SCS after it had sat for 4 months, and all is well! So I was happy to hear that.

I was surfing around You Tube and I saw a few truck-pulls that showcased some Dentside F350's that were SCS with the 140" wheel base and they were 4x4's. Just thought that I'd see if anyone knew if they were factory? Or aftermarket...

Wow she looks to be in great shape!

Break out the buffing wheel and compound and get the oxidization off of that orange paint I'll bet it'll shine right up and be sexy

My first Super Camper Special

I'm flying out to Las Vegas this Thursday evening to pick up this '75. It's pretty much all original with 460/Automatic. I'm planing on driving it back to Dallas Friday into Saturday.
Wish me luck. I'll post more when I get her home.
