Well, I have a 2012 Tailgate (no step) on it's way to Alaska! It is the metallic black, so I will have to paint it gloss black to match, but it is a cream puff!
Does any one know if the later hing will still work with the earlier tailgate? I would like to keep my 2002 bent gate for haling rocks and firewood, then put the 2012 on when not hauling stuff...

Question if anyone knows are the cables the same length from 04-07 to 08-12? I got this tailgate with one lift cable an sold my old tailgate pictured here with both its cables so I cant compare them...

 

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to adjust the torsion spring inside these new tailgates? My new 2014/15 gate feelverity heavy compared to my 2005 tailgate with the aftermarket spring installed, I may just double it up if I can't adjust the internal one.....

 

Can you post some photos of inside of the gate and maybe someone will have an idea.

 

subscribed, awesome thread and id love to do this! problem is these things are precious in my area compared to the prices other areas on fte have. i was looking at about 800 for an 08 one. and it wasnt even the same color as my truck LOL! if anyone knows links to buy one on ebay thatd be great!

 

I'm wanting to do a swap on my '97 F350. What will fit it? Would the Super Duty gates bolt up?

 

No sure if it will fit, but I can tell you it would look terrible. OBS gates are pretty flat, Superduty gates are profiled, it would look super off.

 

I'm starting to look at salvage trucks around that year since I plan on doing so much to mine. If you plan on doing much work, like swapping the front end, tailgate and the interior then I would go that route if I were you. Sometimes you find amazing deals on them.

First off SORRY to resurrect an OLD thread.
A couple of years ago I bought an '11-'16 gate for my L99.
My truck has a custom paint scheme that was done by a conversion company when new and the '11-'16 ("2 line") gates wouldn't work with it.
Just yesterday I found and bought an '08-'10 ("1line") gate so I think I'm set.
Its just a plain gate with no step or camera-I have a topper so I can't utilize the step anyway.

I was reading through these OLD posts and someone asked if ALL the '08-'16 gates have the built in torsion bars and I don't believe there was an answer......anyone know for sure?
AND, Is there any adjustment on these torsion bars?
Also, Does anyone know if the plastic bedliner piece from a '99-'07 will fit the newer gates? -the one on the new gate I bought is a little rough.
I am going to install my new gate onto my truck before it goes into the body shop for some other repairs so they can match my custom paint on it.

I still want this upgrade but I will not spend 500 PLUS on a tailgate plus the repaint. Prices for used gates are OUTRAGEOUS in my area
