BRAKES!! Please read and advise.

My father owns a silver 2000 F150, 5.4L, stepside, AT, 2WD, four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel antilock brakes, nightmare.

I've been dealing with braking issues on this truck for him for a good minute now. Here is the final issue.

Noticed the truck pulls to the left when braking. Asked my co-worker about it. He says it's either LF brake hose or caliper. Hose replaced, doesn't solve it. THEN the RF goes metal to metal on the outer pad. It pulls to the left but eats the right side up. Weird huh?

So the other day I did the front pads and rotors so he could at least drive it. Bearings packed, slides greased. So now it's got new pads and rotors all the way around and still pulls to the left. I told him he can't drive it till I fix it.

I ordered the RF brake hose today and ordered the wrong one (being too fast), so stared at his RF caliper. Dual-Piston, the pistons were not in the same spots. Top piston wasn't touching pad AT ALL. Bottom piston was on pad, but that side doesn't spin as free as the LF. So that piston is grabbing too much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe new calipers are in order. RF's bottom piston is eating the pads, and the top piston is preventing the right side from grabbing as good as the left side. Is this common? He should drive an older F150 like me

A directional pull is usually due to a fault on the opposite side (not applying fastenough or equally). Probably a bad hose on the RF side.

A collapsed hose will cause the caliper to not back off and will usually eat up the pad in no time.

New calipers are not the solution haha. RF brake hose fixed it as you said.

I forgot that when I changed the pads on the front the RF caliper gave me absolutely no problems. Thanks for your help and reassurance SHO.
