Anyway i went on the beach yesterday and got the rear end buried in the sand and a little jeep pulled me o,t but back to the subject.4x4 engaged front drive shaft turning but hubs not engaged? What do i need to check for?BTW auto locking hubs..
ESOF failure bites another victim! Check the vacuum lines going from the frame to the hubs for starters. If they aren't cracked/rotten then you probably need to replace the O-rings in the locking hub and unit bearing. A vacuum pump can help find the leak.
I have been suck in the sand before. And had a litte jeep pulled me out. Not good. As a matter of fact its happend to me twice. These trucks are just too heavy for the deep sand. IMO
thanks Joe I'll take a look at it this week end.
BTW how would you check it?turn the switch to the 4x4 and shoot some water on the vacuum line?
Vacuum pump, such as a Mityvac. Its most likely the seal in the hub or the unit bearing unless your vac lines are really bad. Once you figure out what side is leaking with the Mityvac, you could use low PSI compressed air to see if its at the 4x4 hub or the unit bearing probably.
Ala I going tell nah!!!! . Yup I forgot to tell you check your vacum lines like they said above. Soap water or ruglyde work very well to check for leaks.
That sucks...lol , I got stuck for the first time this winter up here in 3 feet of snow . Toyo Mud Terrains are not good at all in packed snow ...lol And i had to have a jeep pull me loose as well. But did you try locking the front hubs in manually?
