97 250 skipping
I have a 97 250 HD that has 195 on the clock. Whenever it's under load it seems to skip. It doesn't do it much in 1st or 2nd gear, but it does in 3rd, 4th and 5th. The check engine light has never come before, and I haven't tried to scan it for any codes. It appears that it doesn't have the obdII port under the ashtray even though it's a 97. I thought they started the obdII in 96? I have changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter to no avail. I was thinking about trying the coil but I hate to be a parts replacer. I wasn't sure if I should check fuel pressure or not, but not sure how to go about doing that, or if it would help. Thanks for your help in advance.

Ford Fuel Injection How To Run a Self-Test Here is a link on how to check for stored trouble codes if you don`t have a code reader. Might be worth checking for codes first. Or you should be able to get an OBD1 code reader for around $30.00.
Also how long since tune-up (plugs, maybe wires, fuel filter)?
