I'll be chucking the old gauges in the old parts pile... forgot to put this pic in, now it won't let me so I'll stick it here.

Gives a better angle on how far forward the axle is

Well if you ever decide to get rid of them sometime soon let me know. I didn't know that Ford made a 9' stepside it looks weird to me to not see a shortbox stepside (in a good way)

That's funny cause neither did I until I owned one... apparently all the F-350 work truck kinda folk back then got really long flareside boxes that really aren't anywhere near the same as say the F-100 counterpart. Did NOT konw that when I bought it. If it wasn't as minty as it is, there is still factory red paint on the wood inside the box, I would have done something else.... got a road trip this weekend to look at something different, will see how that goes.

The front of the box has been cut the same as a shortbox, just got lazy with the rear of it so far, so ya it's almost a longbox length right now.

I have not done this swap HOWEVER i plan on putting my 79 ex cab long box on my 97 f250 7.3T ex cab long box.

I got the idea from a truck i saw in an Ace Hardware parking lot.

There was a nice Bahama Blue 79 F350 sitting there.

As a Ford guy I had to check it out....

Peeked in the driver window and saw 90s dash...not sectioned/cut to fit.. thick stick 5 speed shifter with rubber boot....
rolled underneath, split front end (f250 1990's) 90s frame, 90s body mounts, 90's rear end!!
Breaking my own rule i popped his hood- banks turbo equipped diesel.....

And so my project begins... I can only assume it all bolted in place as i saw no fabrication underneath..
If i see the truck again i will stalk him and have a chat hahah

Have a couple pictures saved on my home computer if anyone is interested

I'd love to see the pics!

I'd also say you're lucky the owner didn't come out to you with the hood to his truck up. I know it would get ugly if I walked out to my truck & some guy having my hood up...

Just re-read your original post on this again & now I REALLY want to see pics. These 70's bodies are a long way from "bolting" onto a 90's frame from what I've seen, so I'd love to see how the truck you saw above was done. Hopefully you snapped some pics of the body mounts.

I definitely want a 4 door (crew or 4 door bronco) on a TTB setup one day. I wish it was as easy as bolting on!

I did forget to mention it was a Reg cab long box.. I hope that doesnt make a difference for you guys. I also mentioned no Fabrication, i suppose he could have relocated the mounts with a drill and bolts..

Reg cab, long box shouldn't make a difference as it seems the front cab mounts are pretty much the same for the 80's/90's trucks of all body styles, & then the same for the 70's trucks of all body styles, but different between the 2. I'd love to see pics of how he did the body mounts, especially if it was a simple move & re-drilll.
