Suggestions on exhaust system
Well I have a 94 f150 and I was wondering what you all think is the best exhaust system for trucks around this year with the inline six engine. My current setup is one cat, one pipe, glasspack, and turndown. I do have the efi manifold. I thought of getting true duals but have heard one pipe is better for more torque. Don't know if I want more horsepower or torque. What do you guys think?

You can't really have true duals on an inline engine and dual exhausts don't flow any better anyhow, especially on a truck that has to have the exhaust go from the drivers side to the passenger side and back to the driver side again. That's a lot of restriction on the driver's bank and uneven restriction isn't going to do anything great for you.

You can do true duals but I've heard they sound pretty weird. Headers won't do anything over EFI manifolds unless the heads have been worked on. I've run the two factory cats then shot out in front of the back tire like a gen2 lightning and that was mild. Currently running first factory cat then the factory 3 inch into a stainless works straight through chambered muffler and split into duals in front of the back tire. Contrary to popular belief that 3 inch is way to big it runs just as good as every other I6 I've seen with smaller size tubing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. My pipes are 2 and 1/4 inches because when I bought the truck the glasspack was straight off the manifold but I took it to a muffler shop and that's the diameter of the pipes they put on there. And you're saying it isn't worth it to do 3 inches? What about straight piping it?

i have an inline 6 and i read alot about these engines, here is what i found out abot the exhaust.
you CAN go true duals and it will help, these engines respond well to it. what you would need to do is run all new pipe from the split manifold back. 2.25 in pipe, hi-flow cat and any kind of muffler you want. then i would turn them out at an angle infront of the back tire. a glasspack would sound really good. 6cylbill had a set up similar to that on his 300 and it sounded and looked awesome, it wasnt a true dual though

My truck is too loud for my taste but I do love the way it sounds down low. The camera cannot capture the rumble. Unfortunately, as good as the truck sounds down low she still gets buzzy at certain RPM. Flowmasters are weird like that with six bangers.
However I have a Magnaflow on the V6 Escape and it sounds deep. No buzz.
Tell us precisely what you want? Loud? Or just a little tone?
