So I think that we would need a team on the road everyday, although I'd still like to have a place to crash after a supply run though.

Bringing survivors back to camp should be part of what we do. I think it would be kinda selfish to set up a base camp and not do some search and rescue.
Now your seeing my point, a central type location to head to when fit hits the shan kinda deal...
A place to gather people and weapons, supplies, fuel, food.

Im tottaly down with goin out for a few days to go explore and gather...
Destroying zombies along the way.
Hells yea.

Trey, that wrecker tops out at 55 - 60. No speed demon that's for sure. She's got a low - low gear that would lose in a snail race. Comes in real handy time to time.

got an idea to help ration fuel. get a big ol' wagon like budweiser clydesdales pull, and about 20 captured zombies, and dangle a piece of brain tissue from a stick!

Upon more thinking, do we think ramming zombies and splattering them all over everything is a good idea?
Are shot guns a good idea as well?

If you get just a little bit into your body then you are infected.
I think rifles and pistols should be used first scatter guns as emergency back up...

So zombies splatter? That could get a bit messy... I guess it would depend on the degree of decomposition...

Theoretically, by running them over or ramming them, you'd only get zombie goo on your truck - run the truck through a river or creek to wash it off - can't use the rivers and creeks for drinking water anyway as, by that point, they would already be tainted...

We could maybe get our hands on MOPP gear...

Shotguns don't necessarily require aiming to hit the target...

Neither do flamethrowers

However, it seems to me that rifles and pistols, depending on caliber, wouldn't fatigue the shooter as much as a shotgun would with repetitive use...

They may be decomposing, but they will still go splat...

wrong. only if you get it in a mucus membrane (i.e. your mouth or eyes) or in an open wound.

decapitation or sever head trauma... pretty much any head or neck trauma that would kill a regular human.

If we're talking about that big 6x6 wrecker Clay posted a picture of some 10 pages back, a GV would be ripped to pieces the first time someone puts any decent load on that truck. Besides 60 is plenty for a rig like that, you think my carrier or the b-double tanker would move any faster? It's the recon/scout folks that need to be capable of high-speed low-altitude flights, us big boys will do just fine at 55-60 mph.

And yes, why did this get moved to the automotive discussions? It's true that we are discussing vehicles, but it seems to me the overall subject of the thread fits the non-automotive forum better...

Which would be why one of those would be my weapon of choice, I never had enough practice with a rifle or handgun to where I'd rely on them to protect mine or someone else's life, but with a pump-action odds are quite against them poor zombies.

I'm sure there will be plenty of those left behind by their military users or in gun stores, just gotta find one. We will have at least one in our group anyways, so if you ask nicely you may have a chance to pop a few rounds with it, as long as its bright pink color don't clash with your man code

So basically put bandages over your wounds, wear goggles, keep your mouth shut, and just blow them suckers to smithereens? Sounds like a plan to me

There are enough "one liners" in this thread to fill a whole book.
