The downward slide of Craigslist

About six years ago, I stopped using feebay and went almost exclusively to selling on Craigslist. It was free, the community was pretty good, and maybe once every third or fourth ad I got a spam reply.
Now, I get 5-10 spam replies per ad PER DAY, and they just won't do anything. I've stopped using their e-mail forwarding system, instead putting my address in the ad as myaddress at myprovider dot com. Every now and then I check to see if there's been any changes, or I forget to do that, and I get flooded. My latest one is a want ad for some rims for my Eagle, I've gotten a few spams from that but this one is just the best ever:
Hey,

just wanted to tell you that President Obama is forking over millions in government grants for the Jeep Cherokee wheels and tires area right this second to lend a hand to all citizens in order to jumpstart the economy.

Check it out www(.)GrantsBuy(.)info DO NOT lose out on your grant, be quick!!!

Regards,

Apparently I can get a grant to buy Cherokee wheels and tires, who knew?

Craigslist is having a really hard time figuring out how to stop the spammers from doing that. It's killing their site. I post ads often as well and I always expect spam. They have figured out a way to automate harvesting the e-mail addresses from the site. Your way of blocking them works well. I'm going to have to try that next time.

Since they don't listen to complaints in the feedback forum, I put this in every post:

Because Craigslist refuses to do anything to control the spam on their site, I am forced to list my reply address as: myname at emailservice dot com.
I've posted this on a few other sites, maybe if enough people do this then they'll get the message. Or, this is a tactic so they can get rid of the mail forwarding system and become purely a bulletin board.

The jobs on Craigslist are about 90% spam. The good ones are okay. I found a good part time job on it.
